April 18, 2008, This month, Lake Cook Behavioral Health Resources celebrates its 25th anniversary. Established in April 1983 by clinical psychologists Mary Speno, PhD; Susan Mayfield, PhD; and Steven Julius, PhD, in Arlington Heights, Lake Cook Behavioral Health Resources has been providing quality, comprehensive outpatient services to adults, adolescents, children and their families in Lake and northwest Cook counties.
Over the years, LCBHR grew from one location in Arlington Heights to more than 19 locations covering all of suburban Chicagoland. Under the guidance of Speno, Mayfield and Julius, the practice has served thousands of clients and trained many professionals in the fields of psychology and social work. The agency has always been on the cutting edge of utilizing the best practices in the field as well as meeting the ever-changing needs of the marketplace in behavioral health.
In 2001, the expertise of the practice was brought to KHU (then Central Baptist Children's Home) with the goal of growing outpatient services for the children and families served by KHU. Today, LCBHR continues to contribute significantly to their mission with 20 therapists in four locations.
